Christella is a gifted speaker, licensed counselor and educator with a passion for helping families reveal the fullness of God's plan for their lives. She studied Family Studies at Texas Tech University and Counseling Psychology at Adams State University receiving her terminal degree in Counseling Psychology at Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA.
She has worked in a variety of settings, including a domestic violence shelter and as a prevention director for youth. She has taught counseling courses in higher education. In 2015, she opened her own private practice, and recently founded a non-profit i.e., (Youth Adventure Warriors) to reach troubled youth. She holds a license in Colorado, Kansas, Texas and New Mexico. She is also listed on the Archdiocese of Santa Fe therapy referrel network.
Her background has equipped her to handle a wide range of circumstances and trials and her deep love for the Catholic faith and her own family has helped to integrate her knowledge into her therapuetic practice.
Christella's personal journey with the Lord coupled with a strong desire to more deeply understand God's heart for restoring his children to wholeness, led her to seek out more intensive instruction in the healing ministry. Her personal life experiences drew her to families and individuals and she believes the family works as a pendulum and in order to heal the individual you have to work with the family as a unit. She is a strong advocate and supporter against domestic violence, abuse, abortion, and takes on opportunites through speaking engagements to speak against any of these subjects. Her extensive research in adventure based counseling helped to create a program to reach troubled youth.
Christella and her husband, Scot, live in New Mexico where they continue to raise 3 out of 5 lovely children. They have six total children and four grandchildren. As a family they love the outdoors and make a goal to go into the mountains every chance they get.
Kimberly Chavez is a native New Mexican born and raised in Albuquerque with family ties to the Las Vegas area. She has been married 24 years and has two daughters. She is retiring after 25 years as a school counselor with experience in Elementary, Middle and High School and district levels including focuses on college/career and substance use and abuse. She spent 18 years with Albuquerque public schools and 7 years with NM Connections Academy. She is a lifelong parishioner at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. She has served as a Catechist, volunteered for Vacation Bible School and has been a Youth Minister for the past three years
She is so excited to integrate Catholic doctrine and faith with mental health counseling. The Holy Spirit and the will of God has called her to help her brothers and sisters in Christ. Through the continued intercession of her patron saint, Santo Niño, she is committed to focusing on the needs of all God's children
Mr. John Johnson, LMHC
John Johnson is listed on the Archdiocese of Santa Fe therapist referrel network. He holds a MA in Marriage and FamilyTherapy from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas and has experience in counseling for over 22 years. He has been approved to speak by the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. Mr. Johnson speaks on topics about Christ, marriage and the church around the Albuquerque area. He is a member of the ASF commission of Ecumenism and Interreligious affairs and the Catholic Medical association. He invests his time in developing Catholic Evangelization curricula for Francisican University of Stuebenville and NET ministeries. He is billingual in Spanish and French. He is married with a family.
Ariel Hartshorn is a senior college student at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. She is a double major, studying psychology and theology. She serves as the Vice President of the St. Dymphna's Society at her school; integrating psychology and theology and spreading awareness for mental health in church communities. She plans on pursuing a PhD degree in psychology and hopes to work with at-risk youth after she graduates. She has been working for Dr. Christella since 2021 doing graphic design and assistant work for Adventure in Faith Counseling. She also has experience in marketing, website development, and information technology.
